Dozens of pilots in the departure lounge at Frankfurt airport staged a protest over new EU legislation which they claim could keep them on duty for more than 20 hours threatening passenger safety.

The Association of European Airlines has argued the current proposals would make sure the EU has some of the strictest flying rules in the world.
