Perfectly poised next to the catwalk, and more than just a casual observer at London Fashion Week.
Popstar turned designer Victoria Beckham helps judge the Woolmark Prize, joined by Donatella Versace and Diane Von Furstenberg.
The prize is mostly given to emerging designers, and this year Christian Wijnants triumphed with his hand-knitted and hand-dyed garments which were influenced by Japanese methods.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) CHRISTIAN WIJNANTS, WOOLMARK AWARD WINNER, SAYING:
''There were very interesting discussion, because they were all very interested in the techniques, how the garments were made, and so I was explaining them the process of making the collection, was done the last few months. They were very enthusiastic and very, it was very nice reactions, so very happy."
The Woolmark prize is worth just over US$100,000 and has proved a launchpad to fashion careers, with past winners including Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld.
Wijnants unveils his latest collection at Paris Fashion Week at the end of the month.
