South Korea's new president Park Geun-hye hosted a banquet for visiting foreign guests at the presidential Blue House in Seoul on Monday (February 25).

More than 120 foreign delegates -- most of them visiting the country to celebrate Park's inauguration -- as well as 41 other guests had an official dinner with Park.

Earlier in the day, Park was inaugurated as South Korea's first female president during a ceremony in Seoul. She held bilateral meetings with foreign delegations, including Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso.

Park, 61, is the daughter of South Korea's former military ruler Park Chung-hee and one of her campaign promises was to engage with the North if it halted its nuclear weapons plans.
