The first film in the Globalization Trilogy follows a year in the life of a small town that is torn apart when Wal-Mart wants to build a mega-store there. Every day a new Big Box store opens somewhere in America. Following town residents as they organize to oppose the world’s largest retail corporation, Store Wars explores the impact of discount chain stores on American society. As opposing viewpoints clash before the town council and the tension mounts, the film becomes also an inquiry into how decisions crucial to a town’s future are made.
