Story:
gummadi has a son (raja - NTR) and loses his wife while giving birth to his girl child (santi - vanisri) and he hates the girl and becomes drunkard. goes to jail and leaves to madras to become gangster. raja takes care of his sister and comes the song "andaala pasipaapa.. annayyaku kanupaapa". both the boy and girl become orphans and nirmala gives shelter to both along with her son (raghu - harnath). nirmala dies and raja raises raghu by guarding his property. raghu is studying in patnam. raja is drama artist and does ramayanam along with friend padmanabham. padmanabham has a sister janaki (rajasri).
raja loves his sister very much. raghu comes back from studies and both santi and raghu r in love. janaki loves raja. without understanding all this raja wants to marry off raghu with janaki who is educated. but raghu clarifies and tell he loves santi and marries her. raghu gets a job in Madras bank and leaves promising that will take santi soon.
in Madras gummadi wants to exchange fake notes with help from harnath but harnath refuses and gummadi kills him. harnath tells police that gummadi killed him and dies. raja is notified and now he fears if santi knows the truth will die and hides the truth from santi. santi is now preggy and raja keeps on writing letters to santi as raghu. janaki knows the truth and now both raja and janaki continue the drama.
what happens in the end? will santi ever knows that her husband is dead? what do raja do at the end?
