You could call it overkill ... or at the very least a brazen grab for cash.

British police released security camera video showing the moment thieves exploded a cash machine at a gas station.

It happened in the city of Weyhill in Southern England early Sunday.

The manager here says it's lucky the blast didn't cause more damage.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) TEXACO SUPERVISOR, BAHEE RATHAN, SAYING:

"You know I was so shocked and I come, you know, so unbelievable. You know I couldn't react... what's happened in here? (EDIT) we are so lucky it's not a fuel or anything to come out to blast completely the whole site."

Detectives are investigating the blast and have appealed to the public for help.

They say the attack is similar to raids on cash machines in mainland Europe.
