Italian police have discovered a haul of gold bars hidden in a car on what they say looked like 'an ordinary family Easter day out.'

Officers started a routine check as the car was crossing the border into Switzerland.

They found 12 bars worth 4.5-million euros stashed in secret compartments under the seats.
