A seven year old Chinese girl is in stable condition Saturday afternoon in Beijing after receiving treatment for the latest strain of bird flu.
Hers is the first case of H7N9 to be recorded in the capital city.
The girl's parents, both of whom work with live poultry, and who have been in close contact with their daughter have shown no signs of the illness, officials said.
So far, 11 people have died of the H7N9 bird flu strain since it was confirmed in humans for the first time last month.
The source of infection remains unknown, though samples have tested positive in some birds in poultry markets that remain the focus of investigations by government officials and the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization.
