A symbol of the revolution comes down in Syria.

Amateur video which could not be independently verified by Reuters shows the collapse of a mosque in Deraa -- considered by many Syrians as the cradle of the revolution.

It's where protesters first gathered on March 18, 2011 for peaceful demonstrations.

Just days later it was where Syrian security forces killed more than 30 people.

The town continues to come under attack.

Rebels are battling with the government in a fight where President Basher- al-Assad's forces still maintain the upper hand.

Residents do what they can in the aftermath of attacks. Fire consumes homes. There is a struggle to put out the flames.

Quiet streets show a legacy of what's been lost, in a conflict that has lasted more than two years and killed more than 70,000 people.
