More than a year after giving her first public speech at a a hospice for sick children, Kate Middleton has devoted her first-ever video message to the same cause.

The Duchess of Cambridge has recorded a video message highlighting the work of children's hospices to mark Children's Hospice Week, which runs from April 26 to May 3.

The wife of Queen Elizabeth II's eldest grandson, Prince William, delivered the message from Clarence House wearing a black dress with white collar.

"Children's hospices provide lifelines to families at a time of unimaginable pain. The support they give is vital," the pregnant duchess said in her inaugural video.

The video message was released on the internet on Sunday (April 28) in support of Children's Hospice Week Campaign run by the charity Together for Short Lives.
