Pakistan holds election amid violence

At least 10 people were killed in election related violence Saturday in Karachi, including at least one child, as voters across the country headed to the polls.

The blast happened outside a political party office just hours after the polls opened.

The Pakistani Taliban had threatened to disrupt the voting process saying it's un-Islamic. They have been responsible for the deaths of at least 100 people in the lead-up to the election.

But voters fed up with the country's feeble economy and chronic corruption made their way to polling stations throughout the day.

In the capital Islamabad, European Union Observers said the process was going smoothly and marked a huge improvement from the election five years ago.
