Caffeinated toothbrushes may become a reality.

Somehow believing that what consumers need is another product with caffeine added to it, the Colgate-Palmolive Company filed a patent application for a caffeinated toothbrush.

The technology desired would allow for the embedding of a three-month supply of caffeine in the toothbrush head. Specifically, it would be located on the back in the tongue scraper.

If the caffeine craze is over by the time the toothbrush makes it to market – if it does at all – the design has been specified for other additive options.

Potential candidates include aspirin and appetite suppressants.

Flavors are in the application too as is the suggestion to identify them with specially shaped tongue cleaners.

Some are straightforward like apple shaped means apple flavored. Others are a bit more abstract. For example, a warming sensation may be signified by a flamethrower.

Even if a caffeinated toothbrush doesn’t make it all the way to store shelves, consumers still have plenty of caffeine-boosted products to choose from.

Options include mints, gummi bears, and maple syrup. More of a savory food fan? Consider adding a few drops of caffeinated hot sauce to your next meal.
