Dr Abeya provides clinical leadership at psychiatristinsydney.com.au She is a Psychiatrist with MBBS (Hons), FRANZCP and MD (Psych) qualifications. Dr Abeya excelled academically, winning gold medals in both her MBBS and MD examinations. She has also worked as a lecturer in psychiatry, shortly after completing her medical studies and pursued a career in academia along with her clinical work at the time. Her experience is wide and varied. Dr Abeya has previously worked in the public sector as a staff specialist psychiatrist-a part consultation liaison and part community role with the Northern Sydney Area Health Service and as a VMO Psychiatrist at Cumberland Westmead hospital. She also has experience working in the medico-legal field as an Independent Medical assessor and is qualified as a NSW Work Cover Assessor of Permanent Impairment, an MAA Assessor of Permanent Impairment and a Comcare Assessor of Permanent Impairment. In addition to her work in her private practice at Eastwood , Dr Abeya works as an Occupational Psychiatrist for Medibank Health Solutions as the lead Psychiatrist for NSW and ACT and is based in Surry Hills . Her work involves fitness for duty assessments for numerous government departments and other organizations and teaching as well as a leadership role within the organization.
