ESPN NHL Hockey review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of ESPN NHL Hockey for the PlayStation 2 developed by Kush Games and published by SEGA. ESPN NHL Hockey is a hockey game released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003. Even a decade later, it's one of the best sports games on the PS2. It also has Jeremy Roenick on the cover, but hey, no game is perfect. ESPN NHL Hockey features a franchise mode, minigames and even skill competitions, but the best thing about the game is its pairing of simple controls and deep, realistic hockey gameplay. It's not easy to score goals in ESPN NHL Hockey. You have to approach the game like a real hockey game, setting up one timers and cycling the puck. It makes scoring very rewarding, and it's fun thanks to the intuitive controls. Many PS2 sports games haven't aged well, but ESPN NHL Hockey has. This video review features video gameplay footage of ESPN NHL Hockey for the PlayStation 2 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
