A decapitated man, apparently struck by a train, was found on the tracks of the New York subway at the 169th Station in Jamaica on Wednesday.
The unidentified victim was found by a subway rider while waiting for a Manhattan-bound F train at the 169th Street station in Jamaica Hills.
The rider then jumped a toll booth and informed the authorities of his discovery.
"The next train entering was told to stop and investigate," MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz told the New York Daily Mail. "The crew confirmed that there was a body."
Authorities halted train traffic at the scene to investigate the incident and interview MTA staff. Investigators told the media that they were not sure how the body made it onto the tracks.
The incident most likely occurred early Wednesday morning.
Police said the man was indeed found decapitated and was in his forties or fifties. He has not been identified yet, and police are investigating whether there was any foul play.
The body was discovered on the northern end of the tracks.
