At least 10 people were killed and more than a dozen injured after a building collapsed on the outskirts of India's financial centre Mumbai on Friday.
The three-storey residential building was located in the Thane district, 35 kilometres from Mumbai. Days of monsoon rains preceded the collapse of the 40-year-old building. The building was home to nine families, most of whom were asleep at the time of the collapse.
Officials say the building caved in after midnight, leaving dozens trapped underneath the rubble. The accident follows the collapse of another building in Mumbai 10 days ago that left 10 people dead.
