Even as TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was served a notice by AP Bhavan authorities to vacate the premises on the second day of his fast, a delegation of YSR Congress leaders on Tuesday met CPM and DMK leaders to gather support against bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
The delegation of YSRC leaders, led by its president Vijayamma, met Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury. While extending support for the demand of united Andhra Pradesh, the CPM leaders said the immediate priority was to restore normalcy in the state.
“Today’s priority is to restore normalcy in Andhra Pradesh. The Congress party and the Centre should stop taking unilateral decisions and should bring on board everybody concerned to restore of normalcy,” Yechury said.Maintaining that there was no change in the party decision on Telangana, Yechury said “Our position has not changed. We are for United Andhra Pradesh.”
The YSRC delegation also met DMK MP Kanimozhi.
Naidu Unmoved: Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu was asked by AP Bhavan officials to vacate the premises as his fast was unauthorised.
The resident commissioner served a notice to the TDP boss asking him to end his fast as it violates the model code of conduct. As per the Election Commission instructions, state bhavans cannot be used for any political activity whatsoever, the notice said.
However, undeterred by the notice, Chandrababu said he would continue his fast to protest against the attitude of the Centre on the bifurcation issue.
Demanding an all-party meet, Chandrababu wanted the Centre to convene a meeting of the Joint Action Committees (JACs) of Telangana and Seemandhra regions to find an amicable solution to the vexed issue.
“This government is going to be there for six months. After that there is no chance of it coming back. How are parties of the future going to settle this problem? What is their commitment? Why can’t you call an all-party meeting at the national level, discuss it with everybody? Sort it out amicably; that is what we demand,” Naidu said.
Leaders of Akali Dal and Indian Lok Dal leader Ajay Chauthala visited AP Bhavan and shared the dais with Naidu and supported his fast.
