An unknown Good Samaritan recently left behind $50,000 in a Salvation Army red bucket.

With several reports of charity thefts this year, its heartwarming to know some people are reaching in their pockets to make up for those losses. An unknown Good Samaritan recently left behind $50,000 in a Salvation Army red bucket.

Kettle bell ringers had been working outside a Walmart in Joplin, Missouri, asking for donations. Nobody saw who was responsible for placing the vast amount of money inside the container and it was only noticed when workers counted their totals at the end of the night.

While the 50 grand wasn’t in cash stacks, whoever donated it wrapped five checks, each made out for $10,000, in one dollar bills.

Lt. Jamie Curry of the Salvation Army stated “For us to have that kind of a bonus, a surprise sort of thing that you always hope for but can never count on is really exciting. It puts us that much closer to reaching our goal and putting on more services for the community."

The anonymous donor has struck in the past as well. It’s estimated the Secret Santa has given roughly half a million dollars to the charity in the past decade.
