Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh arrived on the set of the hit US television series, Game of Thrones, in Belfast, on Tuesday as part of the royal couple's three day trip to Northern Ireland.

The executive producers and writers of the HBO show led a tour through the sets, showing off the extensive costumes and props used on the programme.

They visited the Red Keep, and the Throne Room, home to the Iron Throne, introducing stars of the show along the way.

The question on everyone's minds was whether Her Royal Highness would sit on the Iron Throne herself.

And while she didn't, she happily accepted a miniature replica as a souvenir.

Game of Thrones is estimated to be the biggest TV production in Europe and has had a significantly positive impact on the Northern Irish economy.
