Commuters at a Perth, Australia train station joined forces and freed a trapped man by pushing the train back.

The passenger had gotten his leg stuck between the platform and a car at the tail end of the morning commute.

He’d just made it onto the train and was shifting to find a place to stand when his foot slipped.

The conductor was immediately notified of the incident and rail station workers began to corral the crowd and put them to work.

Passengers were pulled off of the train and asked to help by rocking it back and forth.

Their efforts were successful and the man who’d slipped was safely pulled from the gap.

An ambulance showed up to check him out, but he’d sustained no serious injuries and didn’t require a trip to the hospital.

A spokesman for Transperth said that the accident was not the result of overcrowding.

He also applauded the quick response of both the workers and the riders, saying, "Everyone sort of pitched in. It was people power that saved someone from possibly quite serious injury."
