There are millions of people who can’t bear to start their day without a Starbucks coffee. Now, there are plans to launch a delivery service that will bring beverages and snacks right to a customer’s front door.
The company’s CEO Howard Schultz confirmed the plans via a conference call with investors. He stated “Imagine the ability to create a standing order of Starbucks delivered hot to your desk daily. That’s our version of e-commerce on steroids.”
The delivery service will work with Starbucks’ new order and pay app for mobile devices. The company hopes the right-to-your-door service will begin in late 2015.
Initially the deliveries will only be offered to loyalty program customers in a small percentage of markets. The Starbucks mobile app is slated to debut in Portland, Oregon next month.
Global Chief Strategy Officer of Starbucks, Matthew Ryan said the delivery service idea is still in the early stages but the company is serious about it. In his words, the plans are ‘moving full speed ahead’.
