Tan Pratonix - Quiet Girl

My emotions
Gushing from a deep and unknown well
Drift through the turbulent ocean
Of this world and dwell
An hour or so
In a haven of strange beauty.

What is this strange beauty? A girl
No more than twenty; whose slim shoulders
I could have caught rose to the puffed sleeves
Of her green cotton frock and slid slender
Olive-brown arms to her fingertips; whose
Raven hair fell in wavelets to her neck; whose tender
Rose lips curved naturally there
Was a smile when there wasn't.

So simple,
The Grecian nose and eyes I cannot define
Seemed to brood an unquiet air
In her quietness
And make cold and alien all that had charmed...

And yet
Wanting to reach out and comprehend her.
