Poverty
What’s that about?
Nothing to do with me.
Three bedroom house
Six members of family
Snug, cosy.
Neither car nor bike
Have to walk everywhere
Healthy, good for you.
Poverty? No!
No internet or email
Pen letters handwritten
Traditional, personal.
No 42 inch television
Radio, the Archers
Imaginative, fun.
Can’t afford electric or gas
Candles, Lanterns
Traditional, tranquil.
Poverty? What’s poverty?
No power shower,
Bath tub
Relaxing, time to yourself.
Lack on money
Tenner in my pocket and my benefits
Great financial management skills.
So, what about this poverty?
Street Gangs and violence,
Neighbours and communities
Brave, strong, can stick up for ourselves
So when you going to tell me about this poverty thing then?
