What is it about October
That assures you that
Spring will be back

The weather hints of changes
Leaves are brave enough
One by one

To let go
Taking momentary flight
Abandoning the trees

Making room for new buds
Providing cover for the soil
And food for those below

Lots of work to get ready
For Spring next year
To get through Fall and Winter
