The heartbreaking story of the 3-year-old girl with a scarred face who was kicked out of a KFC may have been a hoax conjured up by her grandmother to gain publicity.

Victora Wilcher is the 3-year-old Mississippian who was mauled by her grandfather's three pit bulls in April. Nobody's questioning that story.

Two weeks ago her grandmother, Kelly Mullins, told WAPT-TV that they were kicked out of KFC by an employee because the little girl's face was disturbing customers. KFC was blasted on social media and people responded in person, hurling drinks and death threats at employees at the drive through.

One other result of the publicity was that over $135,000 rolled in to Victorias GoFundMe page. KFC offered a public apology, donated $30,000 and promised an investigation.

Mullins said they ordered a sweet tea and mashed potatoes but receipts from May 15 show no such order with those two items on the same transaction. Surveillance videos from both Jackson KFC's also showed no customers fitting the description of Mullins or Wilcher.

So was it a hoax? Not according to little Victoria's family, who still stand behind their accusation despite all the evidence against them.
