A dramatic video has emerged showing a skier surviving an avalanche in Colorado, USA.

Lance Light was out backcountry skiing down the Berthoud Pass on Saturday when the avalanche knocked him over.

The video, shot with a helmet-mounted camera, captures the moment he was overwhelmed with falling snow and had to brace himself against the onslaught.

Fortunately, the skier walked away completely unharmed.
