A Mexican man has been arrested in the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador after he tried to smuggle eleven rare iguanas out of the country. Wildlife trafficking is one of the world’s most lucrative black market activities, and the Galapagos Islands are a hot spot for smugglers. The iguanas would have fetched up to US$25,000 each on the black market. Two of them are being treated for stress. The detainee faces up to three years in prison in Ecuador. teleSUR
