Dy jave nga nisja zyrtare e procesit te regjistrimit te popullsisë, 54 operatoret e INSTAT-it, me dyer te mbyllura për te mbrojtur te dhënat e qytetareve, do te seleksionojnë informacionet e marra nga terreni. I njohur ndryshe si censusi, projekti është financuar nga Bashkimi Evropian me një fond 1 milion euro.
"Ne rastin e Shqipërisë është kërkuar qe te përdoren standarde te larta, për te garantuar cilësinë e këtyre te dhënave dhe për ti krahasuar ato me vendet e tjera. Te dhënat e sakta luajnë një rol themelor për vendimmarrësit," është shprehur ambasadori i KE-se ne Tirane Ettore Sequi. Ndërsa kryeministri Sali Berisha, ka shfrytëzuar inaugurimin e Qendrës se përpunimit te te dhënave për te akuzuar nen kryetarin e KLD Kreshnik Spahiu, se po abuzon me funksionin e tij, duke drejtuar lëvizjen kuq e zi për interesa vetjake. Përfaqësues te INSTAT do te dalin ne terren për te nisur regjistrimin nga data 1 deri ne 21 tetor. Procesi i censusit është shoqëruar me debate te forta, mes historianeve apo politikaneve për shkak te deklarimit ne formularë te përkatësisë e etnike dhe fetare. Ndërsa partia bashkimi i te drejtave te njeriut ka paralajmëruar se do te kërkojë ndryshimin e këtij ligji ne parlament.
