Tuesday was the first day of the United Nations Special Session on International Drug policy, with the participation of world leaders and ranking UN officials debating the direction of global drug policy. While civil society groups and regional leaders have called for a change of course against prohibition drug policies, others argue that more than 3 decades of the so-called war on drugs needs to be deepened.
