"Strands of Starlight" by Gael Baudino was first published in 1989. It is the first novel in the Strands of Starlight Tetralogy. The other novels in the series are "Maze of Moonlight," "Shroud of Shadow," and "Strands of Sunlight."

Miriam, a young woman, is the protagonist of the novel. She is a fugitive who is living in the fictional land of Adria. She has a gift of healing but she is scared of being persecuted because of this gift.
