Israel Prison Service on May 7 released footage it said showed one of the Palestinian leaders of ongoing hunger strikes secretly eating cookies and candy in his cell.
The prison service said Marwan Barghouti had been filmed eating on April 27 and May 5. According to Haaretz, sources in the prison service said Barghouti was set up to see if he was adhering to the strike.
Around 1,200 Palestinians in various Israeli prisons had joined the hunger strike since mid-April, according to reports.
