A juvenile gray whale was spotted swimming amongst boaters and paddleboarders in Dana Point Harbor, California, on August 8.
The whale swam around the boats in the harbor, getting within inches of a pair of paddleboarders, while people looked on from the docks, as this video shows.
The 20-foot-long gray whale was first spotted around 6:30 am by a paddleboarder, and later by an aerial photographer from Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari.
A similar juvenile gray whale was spotted in Carlsbad Lagoon on August 7, although it has not been confirmed if it is the same whale. Credit: Facebook/Tracie Sugo via Storyful
