Singing Lesson: Inhalare La Voce (inhaling the voice) \r
\r
:22 This time, try not to force your voice. Try to lower the effort that youre singing. \r
\r
1:21 Todays subject is on learning how to sing effortlessly. Everyone has their different takes about how to achieve this. So, today were going to take it from breath and adduction. \r
\r
1:35 If youre going to learn to sing effortlessly, its about how you control the air flow. In my other video about the head voice versus the falsetto, I talked about velocity and volume of air. Velocity is the speed of the air as it leaves your mouth. Volume is the amount of air that is coming out. \r
\r
2:00 High volume of air would be.haaaa. As you can tell, if you do that, release that much air, youll run out of air very quickly because the volume of air, the amount of air coming out was really high. \r
\r
2:14 High velocity air is when you sing loud. Or any high note that you sing, thats also high velocity air. Some other ways of hearing high velocity air is a voice thats very rich and resonant. \r
\r
2:30 So what does breath flow have to do with singing effortlessly? If too much air comes out, then, logically, you have to breath more. The more that you have to breathe, the more tired you get. \r
\r
3:06 Well, we must keep the volume of air down because the quality of the voice is related to the speed of the air. We need to get fast moving air while keeping the amount of air coming out, the volume of air down to its minimum.\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
3:25 So, thats the definition of effortless singing. The more air you have coming out, the more effort youre going to have to use. \r
\r
3:50 This is one way of getting effortless singing. And it requires the understanding of the Bernoulli Effect. The Bernoulli Effect is fast moving air that draws objects together. 4:27 The fast moving air of my breath, thats called the Bernoulli Effect. \r
\r
4:30 One form of singing effortlessly.\r
\r
4:34 The Bernoulli Effect is one way to explain how your vocal folds work. \r
\r
4:47 by the Bernoulli Effect, causes them to be brought together and vibrate like this.\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
4:54 So, one form of low, I shouldnt call it effortless, but low effort singing, you have the vocal folds apart first.\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
5:43 So, thats using the Bernoulli Effect to reduce the strain on the vocal folds. benefit from the Bernoulli Effect singing like that.\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
6:16 Well, as youre pricing, you would sing by releasing air first, and then letting the Bernoulli effect draw your vocal folds together and make the sounds that you want. \r
\r
6:21 The other way of learning to sing effortlessly is whats called adduction. Adduction is, as in the other video showed, too, the vocal folds being brought together. \r
\r
6:40 similar to the Bernoulli Effect, but this one is more efficient. \r
\r
7:01 So, very similar to the Bernoulli Effect, except I feel better. \r
\r
7:14 Applied to the onset. Onset is the first sound that you make following a breath. Check out my video about the vocal onset. So then, I want to adduct my vocal folds on the onset.\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
7:43 So, adduction allows me to sing louder much easier than the Bernoulli Effect.\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
7:54 The Bernoulli Effect as you sing louder will eventually cause strain. \r
\r
8:13 Whereas the adducted vocal folds will not have that effect. \r
\r
8:37 Thats why between the two ways of singing effortlessly, adduction is preferred. I guess you could say then, using the Bernoulli Effect to sing with is less effort than over-compressed vocal folds. But what you really want to understand is adduction. \r
\r
8:53 And adduction is also that technique called “Inhalare La Voce”, inhaling the voice. That is one of the principles that help you arrive at “Inhalare La Voce” when youre singing. That reversing of the airflow causes my vocal folds to zip up.adduct. \r
\r
9:35 It gets really loud when youre using “Inhalare La Voce”. Let me try that a little softer with “Inhalare La Voce”. Inhalare La Voce” is great because it balances out the two forces, \r
\r
10:00 So thats how you can learn to sing effortlessly. Learn to control your breath flow. If youre over-compressed, use the Bernoulli Effect to start with air and increase the speed. And then try to graduate if you can to the reduction of the air by adduction. Just try to hold the air back or better yet, use inhaling the voice, “Inhalare La Voce”.
