Security forces fired tear gas at demonstrators close to the US embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, on December 10, during a protest against US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, according to local reports.
Protesters threw stones at security forces after they cut off access to the embassy, reports said.
The clashes followed days of protests in the region after US President Donald Trump said the US embassy would move to Jerusalem despite Israel not holding sovereignty over Jerusalem under international law. The declaration drew widespread condemnation from world leaders and ignited protests in many Muslim-majority countries. Credit: Facebook/Reem Haidari via Storyful
