An anti-hijab protest group posted a video on February 7 showing a woman climbing out of her car window and waving a garment tied to a stick, while the vehicle traveled down a highway in Tehran.

My Stealthy Freedom, the name of a group started by Masih Alinejad, an Iranian living in exile in New York, has been posting a series of videos that show Iranian women removing and waving their hijabs in defiance of Iran’s laws mandating they be worn in public.

The woman in this video calls the hijab tied to a stick her “flag of freedom” and says she wants to be free to choose what to wear. She then hangs out the window of the car while waving her makeshift flag. Storyful has confirmed that the translation shown in the subtitles is accurate.

Videos of Iranians publicly removing or waving hijabs have been posted online daily since late January, when footage of Vida Movahed’s protest against the hijab laws was shared widely.

Movahed was arrested for the protest and later released. More arrests followed. Credit: My Stealthy Freedom via Storyful
