A would-be robber who tried to hold up a snack bar in Sunnybank, Queensland, on March 6, was pummelled by a shop attendant who used a mop to chase the assailant out of the store.
CCTV from Joe’s Snack Bar shows a masked man pointing his weapon, believed to be a steel pipe, 9 News reported. The thief can be seen pretending to use the pipe like a firearm, aiming at shop attendant Adrian Richani. Without hesitation, the 50-year-old grabbed a long-handled mop and struck the man several times until he fell back onto a shelf and ran out of the store.
Richani was struck in the head twice and was taken to the hospital where he received stitches, according to a Facebook post from his son Yaz. When Adrian Richani spoke with Storyful, he appeared to be in good spirits.
“I’m a bit sore,” he said. “I got some some good hits on him – not enough, though. I thought he was done when I knocked him to the ground, but then he bolted off like a f***ing ox.”
