A Broward County Circuit Court Judge has been told not to return to the courthouse after an April 15 altercation with a woman in a wheelchair suffering from emphysema who died in the days afterward.

Sandra Twiggs appeared via a live video stream before judge Merrilee Ehrlich at bond court on a misdemeanor charge after fighting with her daughter. Twiggs, who had asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, began coughing during the hearing, at which point Ehrlich asked if she needed water. When Twiggs began to respond, the judge interrupted to tell her: ā€œIā€™m not here to talk to you about your breathing treatment.ā€

Twiggs was found dead by her family in her home on April 17, Fox19 reported.
