Cambridge Analytica, the firm embroiled in the controversy of jeopardising user data from Facebook, is shutting shop along with its British parent company SCL Elections ltd. The company said that bankruptcy proceedings will begin against it soon. Allegations of improper use of 87 million Facebook users’ data by the firm, which US president Donald Trump hired for his 2016 election campaign, led to multiple investigations of Analytica and Facebook in US and Europe. The firm shut down effective Wednesday and employees were told to hand in their computers.
