Police arrested a man wanted for allegedly dragging an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper 1.7 miles with a car following a traffic stop on July 12, local media reported.

The suspect, identified as Jamel Robert Patton, surrendered to authorities after police released dash cam footage from the incident. The video shows Trooper Michael Miller being dragged on the side of the vehicle as another officer follows.

Local reports citing law enforcement officials said the trooper was taken 1.7 miles down Kirk Road at speeds that reached up to 70 miles per hour, before he persuaded the suspect to slow down to let him fall onto the street.

The suspect was facing charges of felonious assault on a police officer, failure to comply with a police order and resisting arrest, the report said. Credit: Ohio State Highway Patrol via Storyful
