The government intends to seek a court declaration that the 1MDB group is the legal owner of the super-yacht Equanimity and for the proceeds from the vessel's sale to return to the government through the company.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Liew Vui Keong said that the government will seek a court order for the distribution of the proceeds of the sale of the vessel to the 1MDB group, in accordance with and to the extent of the ownership of the vessel.
