A recently released environmental impact statement from the Trump administration predicts that global temperature will rise seven degrees by 2100, reports the Washington Post.  According to the Post, an increase that significant would likely put parts of Miami and Manhattan under water, disintegrate coral reefs, and trigger an uptick in heat waves.  The Post also reports the statement "was written to justify President Trump's decision to freeze federal fuel efficiency standards for cars and light trucks built after 2020. While the proposal would increase greenhouse gas emissions, the impact statement says, that policy would add just a very small drop to a very big, hot bucket."  Former President Barack Obama recently lamented the Trump administration's stance on the environment, notes the Associated Press. He said during a Thursday address in Oslo, Norway, "The single highest priority that I see globally at this point is the issue of environmental sustainability," and also commented, "Unfortunately we have a U.S administration that deals differently around these issues."
Meanwhile, Trump tweeted last year: "I am committed to keeping our air and water clean but always remember that economic growth enhances environmental protection. Jobs matter!"
Trump has long expressed skepticism about climate change, even calling it a hoax in the past.
"The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive," Trump stated in 2012.
