The first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir urban local body polls begin today. With the national conference and the people’s democratic party boycotting the polls, Congress and BJP will be in a direct contest for the first time in the state. Meanwhile security in the state has been tightened for the voting. As per records, there are over 8 crore voters in the 1,145 wards of the state.
