Celebrations underway near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Statue of Unity in Gujarat. It will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. The 182-metre statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is touted to be the world’s tallest. Built on Sadhu Bet, an islet near the Sardar Sarovar Dam, the statue will dwarf the current tallest statue, the Spring Temple Buddha in China (128m), and is almost double the height of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
