A school in North Yorkshire, England has banned Christmas because it's "too commercial," reports the BBC. The children's only hope for saving the holiday is to convince their religious education teacher that they do understand the true meaning of the holiday. The students at Lady Lumley's School have been given one week to do so, notes The Sun. Should they fail, the school intends to give the holiday the full Grinch treatment—no tree, no cards, no parties, no presents. The Daily Mail reports that the policy was announced during a recent school assembly and proved to be very upsetting to a number of students and, in turn, their parents. Others have voiced support for the school's move, with some agreeing that the way Christmas is celebrated has gotten out of hand.
