Our top story this morning...
Icy cold air from the Arctic is sweeping across South Korea, leaving most of us here waking up to the coldest morning of the season.
Braving the freezing temperatures for us give us an update on the weather ,we have our Lee Jee-hyun standing by at one of Seoul's busiest commuter hubs, Gangnam Station.
Jee-hyun, you look nicely bundled up,...but are most other people there sufficiently wrapped up to cope with this sudden chill?
Hi Mark. It's amazing how mother nature can throw a curveball at us at such a short notice...it feels nothing like yesterday..as we are experiencing coldest day of the season. Many people are covered up from head to toe, if you haven't left home yet, be sure up bundle up tight, take out your thickest jackets and wear scarfs...
Let's talk about today's bone chilling temperatures. Cold wave advisories have been re-issued in many central regions... morning lows have dropped to below minus 10 degrees Celsius... but it feels a lot colder than the actual temperatures.
But brace yourself, we have even colder conditions on the way this weekend.
Low plunging to minus 11 degrees Celsius here in Seoul, at least it will be Saturday tomorrow so most of us can sleep in.... wait until early next week to see temperatures rebounding to positive side.
Meanwhile, today is Daeseol meaning a low of snow...regions in the west including Gwangju will see snowfall. The Jeolla-do regions will receive lots of snow into Sunday. The rest of country will be under mostly sunny skies.
Most regions are waking up to a very cold morning, colder in upper regions...but icy cold winds are only adding that extra chill to the air...
Expect to have sub-freezing temperatures all day, Seoul at minus 4 degrees... even lower that yesterday's morning lows... Busan and Jeju will also notice big drop in temperatures today so stay warm.
Closing.. cover up as much of your skin as possible, being outside for couple of minutes can freeze you.. senior citizens and children should avoid unnecessary outdoor activities on a cold day like today That's all for now, stay warm
