The citizenship amendment bill which was to be tabled in Rajya Sabha today will not be introduced in the upper house now. The bill will now be brought up for passage in Rajya Sabha in the budget session that begins from jan 31. Home Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Lok Sabha over the bill and assured that situation was under control in Assam now. The contentious bill has faced stiff opposition from all quarters. The opposition has dubbed it divisive and said that it violates the 1985 Assam accord. The upper house session was extended by one day over which too the opposition cried foul.
