1. The Bhagavad Gita is a Hindu scripture composed in Vedic Sanskrit, that is part of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
2. Bhagavad Gita comprises of 18 chapters that consists of 700 verses and is a narrative framework of a dialogue between the narrator Lord Krishna and Pandava prince Arjuna.
3. This lesson was delivered on the battlefield of Kurukshetra when the armies of the Kauravas and Pandavas were standing against each other and Lord Krishna took the charge of Arjuna’s chariot.
4. Looking at the battlefield, the great warrior Arjuna was filled with immense fear and anxiety that how can he raise weapons against his own relatives..
5. That’s when Arjuna is counseled by Lord Krishna to fulfill his duty as a Kshatriya (warrior) and establish Dharma.
6. Hindu scholars describe Gita as a fusion of the concept of Dharma (righteous duties), Bhakti (devotion), Jnana (knowledge) and Karma (deeds).
7. They say that the period when Lord Krishna gave Arjuna the teachings of Gita, was the most relevant time of his lifespan.
