1. The Soundarya or Saundarya Lahari is a famous literary work in Sanskrit believed to be written by Acharya Pushpadanta and Adi Shankaracharya.
2. The Sanskrit name of this compilation can be literally translated as Waves Of Beauty.
3. Adi Shankaracharya studied Kundalini from Sage Gaudapadacharya and memorized the writings of Acharya Pushpadanta which was carried down to him.
4. Adi Shankaracharya deeply studied and practiced those writings and also received peculiar instructions from his Guru based upon his personal experience.
5. It is a well-informed collection of mantras or guide that occupies a rare standard among the works associated with the Tantric systems of philosophy and Shakti worship.
6. It consists of more than hundred shlokas (verses) and the first forty one of these forms the Ananda Lahari and the rest of the collection serves as the Soundarya Lahari.
7. The followers of Adi Shankaracharya also believe that the first part called Ananda Lahari, was inscribed in the cave walls of Mount Meru by Lord Ganesha and others claim that Acharya Pushpadanta engraved it there.
8. The 103 verses in Soundarya Lahari glorifies the beauty, grace and generosity of Goddess Parvati / Dakshayani, consort of Shiva.
9. Here's one of the divine verses from Ananda Lahari that honors the goddess to pleasing her.
||Taniyams paamsum tava charna-parikae-ruha-bhavam
virinchis sanchinvan virachayati lokan a-vikalam;
Vahatya enam Shaurih katham api sahasrena Shirasaam
harah samsksuhnday'ainam bhajati bhasito'ddhulana-vidhim||
