As police looked to stop protesters from breaking through barricading, close to 5,000 police personnel have been deployed in the area as the numbers of protesters swelled since the morning. Comprising mostly students, the protesters are demanding tougher anti-rape laws. The protesters are trying to march towards India Gate which has been declared out of bounds. One report suggests ABVP workers are involved in initiating violence.
