Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail should hand over the post to her husband Anwar Ibrahim, said Selangor Bersatu treasurer Mohd Shaid Rosli.

Mohd Shaid, who is also Jeram assemblyperson, said that this was a necessary step in the transition plan which involves the handover of the prime minister's post from Dr Mahathir Mohamad to Anwar.

"It is unlikely that Anwar can be appointed as prime minister while the deputy prime minister's position is held by his wife Wan Azizah," said Mohd Shaid in a statement today.
